I've always enjoyed taking pictures, but a couple years ago, when my husband bought me the gift of the nicest camera I have ever owned, photography really became my favorite hobby. I immediately began to use this hobby in conjunction with OTHER hobbies, such as capturing the details of a sports event (usually in which my children are participating), and gardening/bird watching.

I rarely attend an event without my camera. For years, I compulsively video taped everything in which my children were participating: football, wrestling, gymnastics, dance, field hockey, speeches, plays and skits.... To me, being "in the moment" was watching through the viewfinder, attempting to capture every detail of the event. It was, and still is, the thrill of the hunt to capture images that tell the story, and possibly, that once in a lifetime, shining moment, so we can relive it again and again. These days, it is mostly with still shots that I attempt to capture life's moments. (Occasionally, however, you may see me double-fisting with both a single-shot and a video cam! Old habits die hard.) If you see me around, perhaps I caught a story or a shining moment relevant to you!

Bird watching has taken on a whole new meaning in the past two years. (Birds are such fun and fascinating little creatures.) I have always loved plants and flowers, but their detail stands out more to me through the lens of a camera. Nature photography is an area in which I hope to continue to grow in the next few years, because even seeing the images later is calming.

Recently, I have begun expanding my skills to portrait photography, which I have found to be a different, but  incredibly fun challenge.
